Della Iglehart
Della McKay Iglehart, 87, of Prescott, died Friday, April 13, 2001, at the Arizona Pioneers' Home, Prescott. She was born Sept. 5, 1913, in Tempe, to William and Hattie (Merritt) LePage.
Mrs. Iglehart grew up in Prescott and graduated from Prescott High School in 1930. After graduation from Arizona State College (now Arizona State University) in 1934 she taught school in a one-room schoolhouse in Wagner and Yarnell. She served as an aerographer in the U.S. Navy WAVES during World War II. After the war she was a lab technician at the old Saint Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix, a legal secretary for Morgan and Locklear and the postmaster in Temple Bar.
She married Thomas Sellman Iglehart III on March 29, 1958. Mrs. Iglehart enjoyed reading, sewing, including her own swimming suits, golf, fishing and the Smoki People. She also enjoyed painting watercolors and was a member of the Mountain Artists Guild.
Surviving are her stepdaughters, Joan Sarvis of Prescott and Miriam Estrada of El Paso, Texas; sister, Charlotte McKay of Prescott; nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband preceded her in death. Private services were in Sedona at the location that inspired many of Mrs. Inglehart's paintings and where she spent much time with her husband. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 870, Sedona, AZ 86339. |
