Henry R. Streck Dies in Covington
Henry Robert Streck, who retired eight years ago as superintendent of finance at the postoffice here after more than 50 years of service in the government, died Monday at 12:30 p.m. at his home in Covington. He was 78 years old.
Prior to his postoffice retirement, Mr. Streck was also vice-president of the old Peoples Homestead Association, with which he had been affiliated for many years, originally as a director.
He was active in religious undertakings and before he moved to Covington seven years ago was president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St Francis of Assisi church. At time of death he was president of the society at St. Peter’s church in Covington and honorary member of the Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Streck is survived by his widow, the former Miss Elizabeth Virginia Sandford of New Orleans; a son, Albert Melville Streck; and three daughters, Mrs. Bruce D. Carruth of New Orleans and Mrs. John McGann and Mrs. Marion Verlander, both of Covington. |
