- Sources to find and check: Hébert, Southwest Louisiana Records; Dolly Nicol Farrow, My Farrow & collateral family history.
She appears as a citizen in the Republic of Texas (1836-1845), along with a "Leonard Tomlinson" and an "Aaron Tomlinson." See: http://www.srttexas.org/. The application (S 276) was made by Francis G. McDonald (I3907); this is the narrative:
"Tabitha Marguerite Knight was born 16 Oct. 1807. She was baptized 7 Dec. 1807 in St. Martinville, La. Her parents were William Knight and Catherine Russ. Tabitha married William Chisholm Tomlinson (b. 5 May 1805) in St. Mary Parish, La 6 June 1827. They had 5 children. . . . William Chisholm Tomlinson died 25 May 1836 and Tabitha remarried to [her second husband] Thomas C. Baker 17 Feb. 1837 in St. Mary Parish, La. Tabitha came to Texas and was living in Beaumont in 1838, and on 24 Oct. 1838 received grant of 640 acres from the Republic of Texas. In 1850 she married [her fifth husband] John Madison Farrow in Galveston. She lived in Beaumont, Galveston, and San Antonio; and died in San Antonio 26 Nov. 1890 and is buried on Lot 353 Sec. 1 of Oakwood Cemetery in Austin. Her 2 Tomlinson sons served as officers in the Confederate Army (1861-1865)."
He mistyped several of the dates for the 5 children: John Raphael's dates are given as "1 July 1828-7 June 1827"; and Rueben Austin's dates are given as "9 Feb. 1838-15 Feb. 1833." He also gives Augustus Austere's birthdate here as in 1838. It is apparent, however, by his final sentence that only two of the boys lived to adulthood. He also notes later the spouses of the two boys who lived. William C. N. Tomlinson's dates are likely to be correct b/c they are given in two separate places on the document.
