- They lived in Hyattsville, Prince George's County, MD. According to S280, "He is referred to as ‘Seth of Hyattsville,' farmer and merchant; as ‘Col.' Seth, having served in the War of 1812, it is believed" (138).
On 31 April 1831 a notice appeared in the United States' Telegraph (Washington, D.C.) about a suit over his property; he had died intestate. The suit was Richard Hyatt vs. Seth Hyatt, Alpheus Hyatt, Wesley Hyatt, and others.
The “others” are listed in the article (broken down for legibility):
“. . . that the said intestate left sundry chilidren and grandchildren his heirs at law, to whom the said lands have descended, namely:
—Seth Hyatt and
—Alpheus Hyatt, who reside out of the State of Maryland, and
—Wesley Hyatt, who resides in Prince George’s county aforesaid,
—and the said complainant [Richard Hyatt], his children, George T. Hyatt, Jemima Ellen Hyatt, and Seth Hyatt, Junior,
—the children of Rachel, a deceased daughter of the intestate, his grandchildren, who reside out of the state of Maryland,
—Addison Conway, and Wesley Hyatt Conway, the children of Eleanor, a deceased daughter of the said intestate, his granchildren, the said Addison residing out of the state of Maryland, and the said Wesley Hyatt Conway, residing in Prince George’s county aforesaid,
—Margaretta [Lansdale] Williams, the wife of a certain Samuel Williams, William Seth Lansdale, Richard H. Lansdale, Isaac Lansdale, and Regin [sic] A. Lansdale, the children of Jemima, a deceased daughter of the said intestate, his grandchildren, who also reside out of the state of Maryland, and beyond the reach of the process of this court,
—and Thomas Lansdale, also a son of the said Jemima, who resides in Anne Arundel county, in said State,
—and Alpheus Hyatt Lansdale, another son of the said Jemima, who resides in Prince George’s county aforesaid; all which said children and grandchildren of the said intestate, togethter with the said Samuel Williams, husband of the said Margaretta, one of the said grandchildren, are prayt to made parties defendant to the said bill of complaint.”
