Obituary | Obit, Times-Picayune, 29 June 1912, page 7: ARTHUR PITARD DEAD. One of the Most Prominent Hardware Men of the South. Arthur Pitard died at 10:15 p.m. at his residence, 1839 Carondolet Street, aged 76 years and 10 months. He was in the hardware business for almost half a century. He practically retired ten years ago, when the partnership that existed between him and his brother, under the name of G. Pitard & Bro., was dissolved by the death of his brother, which occured in 1902. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Julia C. Portas, Mrs. Blanche Coffee and Mrs. Paul Turnbull, also a son, Mr. Robert Pitard, the violinist, and one sister, Mrs. A. Wiltz, also many grandchildren. Mr. Pitard was one of the best-known business men in the city and had a large number of devoted friends.'
