- Ths is the name recorded on her grandchildren's baptismal records in July 1829.
On her Joseph's 1826 marriage record, her name is not Helena Touranjon, but "Elena Juere." For now, I assume that this is the same "Helena/Elena" with a different last name for an as yet undertermined reason. Is one a maiden name and one from a marriage?
The name "Touranjon" appears nowhere in the Louisiana USGenWeb archives, nor does it appear in St. Domingue Indemnity Reports. It's rare anywhere, it seems.
There is a "Henrietta Elena (Helene) Juerre," daughter of Louis Juerre and Elena Charpentier, buried in St. Louis #3, in the Blineau/Carriere family tomb; she was married to Jose Joaquin Fernandez de Mendoza. This is a coincidentally close correspondence--a Juerre married to a Fernandez at the right time, with allowances for close first names--but there's no evidence of a child named Joseph.
