Trimble 1 Feb. 1863. Aide-de-Campe on Gen. Steuart's staff at Gettysburg. He was captured at Spotsylvania Court House, imprisoned at Ft. Delware, and exchanged Dec. 1864. Assigned to Gen. G.W.C. Lee's staff at Chaffin's Bluff. Captured again at Sailors' Creed Apr. 1865, released in May of 1865.
