Name | James McCaleb | |
Birth | 1840 | |
Gender | Male | |
Military Service | He died of Yellow Fever while serving in the Confederate Army. A James McCaleb enlisted on on 24 May, 1861 and served in Company B, 12th Virginia Infantry, and died on 22 August 1861 in Richmond, VA. I assume this is the same one; It is very possible because for West River natives to serve, they had to escape from Maryland to the south, and he may have enlisted in Virginia when he did. James Shaw Franklin's journal records how he had to escape through Baltimore to enlist. | |
