Obituary | Obit, Newburyport Herald, 31 July 1801: In this town, Mrs. Lydia St. Barbe, consort of Capt. Wyatt St. Barbe, greatly lamended by her friends and acquaintances, to whom she had endeared herself by her softness and delicacy of manners and other social virtues. Mrs. St. Barbe was a faithful, virtuous wife and a tender, affectionate parent, remarkably innocent and inoffensive, disposed to alleviate the distresses of her fellow creatures, and according to her ability, liberal to the poor and needy. In a word, the general tenor of her pious, good and useful life, gives us the utmost reason to hope and believe, that thro the mercy of God and the merits of her Redeemer she hath made a happy exchange of this for a life infinitely better. | |
