Gender Male Military Service According to Newman, "On May 7, 1778, Dr. Waters was commissioned an Assistant Surgeon of the Second Maryland Regiment commanded by Colonel Thomas Price. The Muster Roll of the Regiment at White Plains on July 26, 1779, reported him "sick." The roll on August 12, 1778, as did the one at "Fish Kill" on October 5, 1778. The Muster Roll of the Regiment at Middlebrook for November and December, 1778 listed him as "resigned." [2] Death 1810 Patriarch & Matriarch

After the close of the war, he purchased a large estate called "Spring Garden," on the road leading from Goshen to Gaithersburg, and the road from Mechanicsville to Clarksburg. Dr. Waters was born in Prince George's County, where he married Miss Margaret Smith, by whom he had several children. His son Richard was a prominent man in the County, and held the office of Sheriff, while his brother Somerset was a prominent Commission Merchant in Baltimore, and served a long time as a Tobacco Inspector."
