Samuel Williams' obituary from 1889 states: "This little incident is told: General McArthur, who was a member of Congress from the Chillicothe district, boarded while in Washington with an uncle of Miss Lansdale. The old General took a great fancy to the young lady and told her that if she would marry and come to Ohio to live he would make her a present of a hundred acres of good land. After she had married Mr. Williams she accepted the McArthur offer. He gave them land near Woodstock, which together with what they purchased made a valuable farm. They lived there a short time and sold out and bought the Sugar Bottom farm now owned by Samuel Hodge. There they lived happily until about 1840 when Mrs. Williams died." |

How might he be related to John Williams, grandfather of Bernard Hodges Williams who married Martha Dorsey Lansdale? Or the family or descendants of Baruch Williams?
He seems to have remarried before the 1850 census. I take it that the children who are on the census but not recorded in the Bible are with his later wife, Priscilla.
Their son Duncan received his middle name from him, no doubt.
