  Military Service	Revolutionary War soldier. According to the DAR history, "Stephen Moylan (1737-1811) was aide-de-camp to Washington, 1778. He was chosen quartermaster-general by Congress the same year, but preferred to raise an independent regiment of cavalry, 1777; made a brilliant record and was brigadier-general at the close of the war. He was the first president of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, a society which raised immense sums to supply the army with provisions. He was born in Ireland; died in Philadelphia, Pa." His cavalry company was present at Valley Forge as Col. in charge of the 4th Dragoons, appointed on 20 March 1778.  [3, 4]
