- He went by Alfred, though his first name "George" appears on his CT death record.
He was the holder of a patent for a "folding coop" (patent no. 354, 894, registered 1886). See the the website on "Index to Early Louisiana Patents, 1810-1890."
At the time of the 1880 census, he was a clerk in a store in New Orleans.
In 1926, after his wife's death, he moved to West Hartford, CT, to stay with one of his (widowed) daughters, Katie Alice Jeter, and her son Sherwood F. Jeter, Jr. He sent his second pension application from here. He applied for a pension twice, in 1913, and 1931. It was apparently refused both times. [3]
