Notes |
- Her censuses are very confusing; I'm not sure that I have the correct ones. The 1880 census, from Morgan City, coincides with the obit. of her daughter Ella, where Ella was a native of Morgan City, so that seems pretty good.
But the 1900 and 1910 censuses are odd; I'm not sure it's right.
The 1900 census seems to have a lot of inaccuracies. Aside from time married and the date of immigration (she says 1880?), in 1900 she has had 4 children, all still living, and there are four listed as living with her here: Emilly (22), Annie (21), Martin (15), and Leonard (7). But, "Emilly" should be "Emma" and "Annie" should be "Amy."
In the 1900 census she was married for 25 years; the 1910 census says 18 years in the present marriage. If the 1910 census would be the the more accurate one here, putting the date at abt. 1892, presumably the first three chiildren, Emily/Ella, Annie/Amy, and Martin, are all by her first husband Martin Croker, with Martin Jr. being born shortly after his father's death.
Her second husband Is I believe the father of her daughter Ella Croker's husband Charles Toppino Jr.
For origins, the 1880 census say Bohemia; the 1900 census says Germany; and the 1910 census says Austria.
The 1910 census puts her immigration date at 1865, which would make more sense than 1880, as in the 1900 census.
In 1910, "Emily" is also the oldest daughter's name (age 31, which would match Ella).
In 1930 she is living with her daughter Ella and his wife Charles Toppino. Also with them is Emma Dupuis, "aunt" of the hoh Charles Toppino, but also born in Austria.
