Obit, Maysville Bulletin, Thurs. 6 Jan 1876, p3:
Mr. M.R. BURGESS, a prominent wholesale merchange of this city, died on Saturday night at his country residence—Rosemont--near Maysville, after an illness of several months. He has been for many years past closely identified with our business interests, using a large capital and attrachd a large tract what would otherwise have found its way elsewhere. His loss will be severely felt, not only by his many friends, but by the commercial circles of the sity.

IN MEMORIAM—The Inevitable Visitor has come to into another home in our community and takes away, this time, a man of extensive acquaintance, of many manly and most estimable qualities, and who has left behind many a friend, that will mourn his loss, with genuine and unaffected sorry.
Yes, Michael R. Burgess, to whom this allusion is made, was a man of many manly and estimable qualities. He was born on the 9th day of September 1821, and died on the 1st day of January 1876 at midnight; and a lifetime of so much industry and quiet, cheerfuly perseverance in prosperity and adversity can hardly be found in the example of another man in the country where he resided. . . . |
