- signed his name as “William Michel Burns.” Gives a relative who will always know his address as Mrs. J.D. Mayorga, at 1005 Joseph St. He was working for H.G. Hills, a store at Calliope and Broad.
- There is a William J. Burns Detective agency in New Orleans? This doesn’t seem to be him, though.
he seems to have changed his middle name to “Michael” during his life. A William Michael Burns died in New Orleans on 18 Feb. 1963, according to the death records, who was aged 72, which would match him (vol. 0, p. 1262).
“Records for the Day” in the Times-Picayune on 20 Feb. 1963, p47, gives this note under “Deaths”:
William Michael Burns, 72, Home for Incurables.
