Obituary | Obituary, Times-Picayune, 10 Sept. 1993, p33: LEDOUX—Mrs. Dorothy Hunter LeDoux, age 75, and a resident of Gulfport, MS died Thursday, September 9, 1993 in Gulfport. Mrs. LeDoux, a native of London, OH, had been a coast resident since 1974. After graduation from high school, she continued her education in Germany and in Paris and Nice, France. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary education from Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge, and was a member of Phi Sigma Iota and Kappa Kappa Gamma. She taught French and German to students from kindergarten through college, including Tulane University and LSUNO. Mrs. LeDoux worked for the U.S. government in the Office of Censorship in New Orleans prior to and during World War II. She was a very active volunteer during the 1950’s and 1960’s for many charitable, cultural and philanthropic organizations in the New Orleans area, including the Crippled Children’s Hospital Guild, Louisiana Landmarks Society Cancer Society, Philharmonic Symphony Society, and Sara May Hospital Guild. Her many memberships included the New Orleans Country Club, Tulane University Women’s Organization, and Pro Christo Laborantes. Mrs. LeDoux was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Gulfport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Marion John LeDoux; her parents, Dr. Matthew Charles Hunter and Catherine Foody Hunter; and 1 brother, Matthew Charles Hunter. Survivors include 1 brother, Jack Edwards Hunter, Elberta, AL; 1 nephew, Matthew Charles Hunter, Wilmington, NC; and 2 nieces, Catherine Hunter Chapman, Marion, Iowa, and Elizabeth Hunter Benvenutti, Bay St. Louis, MS. Friends may call Friday, September 10, from 7 to 9pm. At the Remann Memorial Funeral Home, US 49 North in Gulfport. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7 PM. The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 1:40 PM Saturday and will go to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Gulfport for the Funeral Mass at 2:00 PM. Graveside series will be at 5:00 PM in Metairie, LA. | |
