Notes	His middle name "Armand" appears in the will of his father Mortimer. He is also named there as the only living descendant of his father, Auguste. The following note appeared in the Times-Picayune on 1 Sept. 1867 (page 10): "Octave Rousseau and Mortimer Pitard were arrested, charged by Marie Begault with larceny." In the 1874 New Orleans city directory is this entry: Pitard, Mortimer . . . clk . . . r. . . . Broad b. Columbus & Laharpe In 1900 there is a Mortimer Pitard, carpenter, living alone (listed as HOH) in the 7th Ward who is 43 (born Feb. 1857), born in Louisiana with both parents born in France. He is listed as single, not widowed, with no children. He is lives in the house of A. Dariocourt (and Marion his wife), the attorney who wrote the pension letter. He is listed as a renter. I see no record that Mortimer b. 1843 had children. The dates may be errors here. If it's this Mortimer Pitard, his actual age should be 57 and the year of birth was 1843--the 57 and the 43 seem to have been transposed. That's an odd transposition, and he's not named as a carpenter in the city directories, but a "clerk." But could it be a son? I see no evidence of a marriage anywhere.
