Legal Documents | I'm sure that this person is related; I just don't know how: In the probate documents an "Antoine Busquet" is mentioned as the purchaser of one of the slaves from Octave Pitard's estate. This is the first of the probate documents, dated Oct. 12, 1842: To the Hon. the judge of the Court of probates in and for the parish city of New Orleans. The petition of Mrs. Eliza Busquet widow of Jean Baptiste Octave Pitard late of the city Respectfully represents That her said late husband died in the course of September last past, in the town of New Iberia, county of Attakapas, in the State as appears by the certificate hereto annexed, having four minor children namely Octavie aged seven years, Olivia aged five years, Polymnie aged three years, and Rosa aged about one year, the issue of the marriage with petitioner, That said deceased was domiciliated in the parish & has left no testament, That petitioner had married said late husband under the provisions of the laws of this state, That since the death aforesaid, petitioner was seriously ill and utterly unable to provide for and preliminary step to open the cession of the deceased, and that now apprehending that her said husband may have become indebted before his death she deems it her duty, ans well for herself as in the name & behalf of her aforenamed minor children, to claim & take the benefit of inventory, Wherefore petitioner prays that this be declared <----> of his minor child And as in duly bound, Eliza Pitard Cyprian Drefours The under tutor appointed is Charles Maillot. | |
