Obituary	Obituary, Louisiana Courier, 29 Jan. 1844: Yesterday at 4 o'clock, P.M., aged 69 years, Madame Widow Pitard, a native of Bordeaux, and formerly a resident of St. Domingo. The friends of the family are requested to assist at the funeral, which will take place this afternoon, at five o'clock, from the residence of her son, J. Notes	The baptismal record for her son J.B. Octave Pitard says that she was from the Parish of St. Andrew, Bordeaux, Dept. of Gironde, France. This is the parish that belongs to the cathedral; the cathedral in Bordeaux is the Cathédrale Saint-André de Bordeaux. The certificate also gives her parents' names. Her marriage record also says that she was a "native of area of Saint-Andre de Bordeaux," and that she was "fille mineur et legitime de Jean Avril et Marguerite Andat." It says that she has a tutor, Jean Seguin. A tutor would be appointed at the death of both parents. Her mother had died in 1794, when she was named the "vivante epouse du sieur Jean Avril.” She does not appear in the NOLA death records index, or in records of funeral expenses from 1843-46, or in the cemeteries' interment books for 1843-45. Her certificate of burial, however, places her in St. Louis #2.
