- According to Peden, "he was captain of a militia company in Calvert County, Maryland in the Revolutionary War, a member of the Council of Safety, and one of the first pew holders at the newly reconstructed All Saints Protestant Episcopal Church at Sunderland in Calvert County. He married Mary (or Sarah) Rolle, daughter of Feddeman Rolle and Lydia Sherwood, and had eight children. Mary (or Sarah) Freeland died in Calvert County shortly before the family's moving to Kentucky. Their ultimate destination was Mississippi." [1]
