  Military Service	According to his Confederate Pension application, dated 21 July 1909, he enlisted on 18 Sept. 1861 and was discharged on 26 May 1865. He was in Co. C of the 26th Texas Cavalry. His enlisting officer was Capt. Augustus A. Tomllinson, his step-brother. An affadavit by J.B. Ratcliff in the application states "I know L.R. Farrow, personally. He enlisted in the Confederate Army at Galveston Sept. 18, 1861 for the War. He served with that noble Cavalry Regiment commanded by J.B. DeBray. He rendered efficient service at the battle of Galveston. He was in the Red River campaign in La. {He] participated in the battles of Mansfield, Pleasant Hill, Kid's Mill [=?], Blair's Landing, Magnutt's Hill [sic; MacNutt's Hill], Chamber's Farm, Lacount [=?], Chainyville [sic; Cheneyville], Monett's Ferry, Marksville, and Mansura."  [1]
