Hewitt A. Thian, M.D., Age 78 Years, died of natural causes on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at his home in Bay St. Louis, Ms, the Rocking T Ranch. He was born on June 24, 1926 in New Orleans, La.
Dr. Thian specialized in general surgery for 38 Years with a private practice in the greater New Orleans area, conducting care at Mercy Hospital, Montelepre Hospital, and Hotel Dieu. He was the co-founder of Chalmette General Hospital, which opened its doors in 1975.
He was a graduate of Jesuit High School and received his Bachelor's Degree from Loyola University. Dr. Thian received his Medical Degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine. He was a Member of the Orleans Parish Medical Society, International College of Surgeons, Safari Club International, Metairie Country Club, Big Game Fishing Club, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and the Flying Physicians Association.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy During World War II.
Dr. Thian retired to his childhood home in Mississippi where his respect for the land and animals was able to flourish and bring him great happiness. He will be Remembered for his love of the outdoors, especially when taking to the blue skies in his award-winning custom-built Stearman Bi-Plane.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass at 12:00 Noon at St. John Catholic Church, Lakeshore, Ms on Saturday, August 14, 2004. |
