Obituary | Obituary, Macon Weekly Telegraph, 28 June 1859: "Died at Pleasant Hill, DeSoto Parish, Louisiana, on the 19th Inst., John S. Childers, Esq., aged about 62 years. Mr. Childers was one of the earliest settlers onf this county, and city, and for many years one of its most prominent citizens. He was elected Sheriff within a few years after its organization, and represented it in the State Legislature. He afterwards resided in Houston several years, and then emoved to Louisiana. Many relatives and friends in this vicinity mourn his loss." | |
