||Abner WIMBERLY  |
||1 Jul 1786
||Bertie Co., North Carolina
||Nothern Div., DeSoto Co., Mississippi
- aged 63, farmer, born in North Carolina; real estate valued at 3,000.
||This obit was kept in the Strain Bible:|
"Abner Wimberly died on Sabbath morning, July 18, 1858, aged 72 years and 18 days. He was a native of North Carolina; partly raised in South Carolina; and when arrived at mature years lived in Georgia; where, in December 1809, he was married to Miss Childress, his present aged and stricken widow, who mourns the loss of one no longer her affectionate companion and the guide of her footsteps."
From the Columbus Tri-Weekly Enquirer (Columbus, GA), 4 Sept. 1858:
"In Ashley County, Arkansas, on the 18th of July, Mr. Abner Wimberly, brother of Col. Jas. Wimberly, of Muscogee county, Ga."

- His name is in John Lansdale Sr.'s notes. Names for other children aside from Eliza are from the 1850 census, where 4 are sons (I assume they are his sons--there's not a column to note this) with just first initials; Wesley is the only other child given a name there. Eliza is only "E," but she is also the only daughter.
In the Strain Bible:
"Abner Wimberly born July 1, 1786 died July 18, 1858. Born in North Carolina, partly raised in South Carolina. In mature years lived in Georgia where in December 1809 he married Miss Childress. This daughter Eliza Chloe Wimberly married James Strain Oct 15th 1851—and died January 23, 1853."
